My work is inspired by, and often incorporating, elements of the landscape. I am heavily influenced by the countryside around me in Northamptonshire but also woodlands and waterways around the country. I create abstracts based on reflections of nature and I also have a range of 'Nature in Art' pieces. These works are highly textural and include elements of nature embedded within to immortalise the beauty of the landscape and to remind us of what we have to lose by destroying it. I find and forage interesting forms from the landscape of weeds, leaves and bracken and then dry them, press them and layer them into a fabric hardening medium. My work is then built up in paint layers and metallic mica powders to accentuate the natural beauty and to show the structure and form.
